Loving a musician

Loving a musician...it's different. I get to watch the serotonin and dopamine pour out of his heart every time he picks up an instrument. I get to watch the love for rhythm and sound pour out of his mind every time he begins to play. My love for photography has enabled me to capture moments like this one; moments where he's so deep inside the music that it starts moving through his mind, body and soul uncontrollably. I have always loved music. Music has always been my healthiest escape and to be able to connect deeply with someone who loves music so much they have dedicated their life to it - it's magical. There's an immediate understanding, an immediate mutuality, an immediate language that is familiar to the both of us. Instead of spending our time together on our phones, our time is spent sharing music and connecting through conversation and something so engaging you can't help but give your entire mind to the process. It's a way of connecting where you can let go of everything around you while at the same time recognizing all that it is, no matter how big.

As Stevie Wonder sings, "Music is a world within itself, with a language we all understand, with an equal opportunity, for all to sing, dance and clap their hands". Garron Chesson has showed me that music has no boundaries, music is never wrong or too complicated to understand. Everyone has a chance at music, everyone knows a song they can relate to so deeply and that's the magic. The magic of connecting with Garron has been so wonderful and every day I wake up, I am thankful I get to spend my night hours filming and photographing the beauty of it all.
